Privacy policy
This page explains what happens to the details you send us through this website, and to an enquiry we record for you when you get in touch another way: what we collect, where it is kept, who can see it, how long we hold it, and how to ask us to delete it. My Static Caravan Ltd is responsible for that information. We are at Rear Yard, Ash View Farm, Roman Road, Babcary, Somerset, TA11 7DS, and you can reach us on 0333 577 0020 or at sales@mystaticcaravan.co.uk.
This policy was first published on 5 June 2023 and last updated on 19 October 2026. It covers mystaticcaravan.co.uk. It replaces the version that was on our previous website, which described a different site and gave the wrong web address for our terms.
What we collect, and when
We only collect personal details when you choose to send them. There are three forms on this site, plus a mailing-list signup, and each one tells you at the point of asking. The one other thing that records anything about you is Google Analytics, and that only runs if you turn it on — there is a section on it further down.
Enquiring about a caravan. We ask for your name, email address, phone number and your message. If you enquired from a caravan's page, we also record which caravan it was, so we know what you are asking about.
Asking us to value a caravan. We ask for your name, email address, phone number, the make, model, year, size and number of bedrooms, the town or postcode where the caravan is, anything you want to tell us, and how you heard about us. You can attach up to ten photographs.
Listing a caravan for sale. We ask for your name, email address, phone number, the town or postcode where the caravan is, and the details of the caravan itself, including your description of it. You can attach up to twenty photographs.
Each form asks you to confirm that you are happy for us to contact you about what you have sent. We cannot accept the form without that confirmation.
Getting in touch another way. If you ask us about a caravan, or ask us to value yours, by phone, by email, in person, on social media or at a show, our staff may record it in the same place as the enquiries and valuation requests that come through this site, so that it is not lost. We record your name, the contact details you gave us, how you got in touch, and what you asked about. For a valuation, that includes the details of your caravan and any photographs of it you send us. Our staff may also add notes as they deal with it, such as the date of a viewing or the offer we made. We keep it and delete it in exactly the same way as a form sent through this site.
Joining the new-stock mailing list. We ask for your email address and nothing else. The signup only works if you tick the box agreeing to receive the emails — there is a section on the mailing list further down that sets out the whole of it.
There is nothing on this site to buy, so we never ask for payment details.
Why we collect it
To answer you, and to do the thing you asked us to do — quote for a caravan, value yours, or prepare your listing. If we list your caravan for you, we also use your details to pass buyer enquiries to you, and to check with you from time to time that the caravan is still for sale. That is all. We do not sell your details, we do not pass them to anyone outside the business for their own use, and we do not use them to advertise to you.
Photographs
Photographs matter more than most information, because phone cameras usually record where a photograph was taken. That location is often your home.
When a photograph is published on this site — on one of our own listings, or on a private seller's listing once we have accepted it — we rebuild the image from scratch on our server before it goes anywhere public. That step removes the embedded camera data, including the location, and the version visitors see never carries it.
Photographs you send with a valuation request, and photographs on a listing we have not yet accepted, are a different case, and we would rather say so plainly. They are held in a private area of our storage that is not reachable from the web, and only our staff can open them. They are not rebuilt while they sit there, so they still carry whatever your camera recorded. A valuation photograph is kept with your valuation request and deleted with it, as set out below. A photograph on a listing is deleted with that listing's record, or as soon as we have rebuilt it for a listing we accept.
If you send us photographs of your caravan another way, for example on WhatsApp, and our staff add them to your valuation request, we rebuild each one before we store it. That removes the camera data, including the location. They are kept in the same private storage, only our staff can open them, and they are deleted with your valuation request.
We keep the original of any photograph we have published, unaltered, in private storage. It is never served to a visitor; it is there so we can regenerate the published sizes if we need to.
We check the type of every file that is uploaded before we accept it, and there is a size limit of 8 MB per photograph. We do not currently run a virus scanner over uploads.
How long we keep things
Listings that were never dealt with are deleted automatically sixty days after they arrive. The record and the photographs both go.
Listings we decline are kept for thirty days from the day we decline them, and then deleted — record, description and photographs. We keep them that long so that we have time to look again at a caravan we turned down, and so that a decision made in error can be put right. You can ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.
Listings we accept keep the seller's own details for twenty-four months from the day we approve the listing, and then those details are deleted. The caravan's page on our website is a separate record and is not affected: it never carries the seller's name, email address, phone number or the location they gave us.
In every case we keep a single line in our internal records saying that a deletion happened and when. It contains no personal details.
Enquiries and valuation requests, with any photographs and notes kept with them, are deleted automatically sixty days after we have finished with them, and never more than twenty-four months after they arrive. We have finished with one when we close it — whether you bought from us, decided against it, or we could not reach you — or when we archive it, and the sixty days run from whichever of those comes first. If you get back in touch and we reopen a closed enquiry, its sixty days stop, and they start again from the day we next close it. The twenty-four months always run from the day you first contacted us. The same applies to one we recorded after you got in touch by phone, email, in person, on social media or at a show. You do not have to wait for any of that: you can ask us to delete yours at any point and we will.
A form held for a spam check (see "Stopping automated abuse", below) is deleted automatically thirty days after it arrived, with any photographs, unless our team releases it. Once released, it is kept like any other enquiry, valuation request or listing.
Mailing-list records are kept while you are subscribed. Once you unsubscribe, the record is deleted automatically two years later, counted from the day you unsubscribed. "The new-stock mailing list", below, explains why we keep it that long.
When something is deleted from our storage, our hosting keeps a recoverable copy for up to thirty days as protection against mistakes, after which it is gone for good. Our database is protected in a similar way: it can be put back to any point in the last seven days, and we also keep a weekly copy of it for five weeks and a monthly copy for twelve months, so that a mistake noticed late can still be put right. Those copies are not changed after they are taken, so something deleted from the database stays in them until they expire, twelve months later at the most.
Where your information is kept
Everything you send us is hosted on Microsoft Azure, in the United Kingdom. The database, the file storage, the website itself and our monitoring are all in a UK region, and the service that sends our email is set to keep its data in the UK too. We do not move any of it out of the UK.
There is one exception, and it applies only if you turn statistics on: Google Analytics. What it records goes to Google rather than to us, and Google may hold and process it on its own servers outside the UK, including in the United States. The terms we have entered into with Google carry the standard data-protection clauses that UK law requires for that. Nothing you type into a form on this site is ever part of it. "Google Analytics, if you turn statistics on", below, sets out the whole of it.
The new-stock mailing list
If you ask us to, we will email you when new caravans come into stock. This is the one place on the site where we email you about anything other than something you sent us, so here is the whole of it.
What we store. Your email address, the date and time you agreed, which page you signed up from, whether you are currently subscribed, and — once you unsubscribe — the date and time you did. Each signup also carries its own random unsubscribe code, which is what makes the unsubscribe link in every email work without a password.
Why we are allowed to. Because you asked us to, and for no other reason. The signup does not work without the tick box, the box is never pre-ticked, and we do not add you to the list when you use any other form on the site.
What you will receive. Emails about our own new stock, roughly twice a month. Nothing else, and no tracking — as with all our email, there is no invisible image that tells us whether you opened one.
Stopping it. Every email has an unsubscribe link in the footer. One press on the confirm button and the emails stop straight away — no sign-in, no questions. You can also email sales@mystaticcaravan.co.uk or ring 0333 577 0020 and we will take you off by hand. If you change your mind later, you can sign up again at any time.
How long we keep it. While you are subscribed, we keep your address so we can send you what you asked for. When you unsubscribe, we keep the record — marked as unsubscribed, with the date — because that record is what proves we stopped when you asked. We keep it for two years from the date you unsubscribed, the longest we keep an enquiry for, and then it is deleted automatically. If you sign up again in the meantime, the two years start again only when you next unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete yours entirely at any time, using the contact details in the "Your rights" section below.
We never share, sell or swap the mailing list, and nothing about your signup is given to any advertising network.
Email we send
When you send a form, our sales team is emailed to say that you have been in touch, with what you wrote so they can answer you properly. You are sent an acknowledgement, so you have a record that it arrived, unless your form is held for a spam check (see "Stopping automated abuse"). The acknowledgement does not repeat what you wrote. It confirms that your form arrived and, if you asked about one of our caravans, gives that caravan's details from our own listing. Each email address is sent one acknowledgement a day at most: if you send us a second form on the same day, it reaches our team as usual, but you will not receive a second acknowledgement. This stops anybody using our forms to fill someone else's inbox. On a very busy day, your acknowledgement may arrive later than the email to our team. Neither email carries your photographs.
Our emails contain no tracking. There is no invisible image that tells us whether you opened one, and the links in them are ordinary links, not measured ones.
There is one more email, and only if we have listed your caravan for you. While it is on our website, a member of our staff may write to ask whether it is still for sale and to offer to suggest an updated asking price. It exists because a private seller's caravan sometimes sells elsewhere and the listing goes on offering it. A person decides to send each one — nothing sends it automatically — and you will receive at most one every thirty days. Reply to it or ring us, and we will act on what you tell us.
If you buy a caravan from us, we may ask you, in person or on the phone, whether you would be happy to leave a review on Google. Only if you say yes, a member of our staff sends you one email with a link to do so. We use your email address to send that one email and do not keep it with your purchase, and we do not email you about it again.
Cookies and the choice you are offered
Say no, or say nothing, and no cookie is set on your device by this site or by anyone else. Nothing optional loads until you have answered the banner — no analytics, no map, no request to any other company at all.
Say yes to statistics, and cookies are set. They are set by Google Analytics, not by us, and they are named and explained in the next section.
Whatever you choose, we store one thing in your browser, and only after you have answered: your choice itself, so we do not ask you again on every page. It is kept in your browser's local storage — not a cookie — under the name msc.consent. It stays until you clear it or change your mind, and it holds nothing but your answer and the date you gave it.
The banner offers three categories:
- Necessary — always on. This is the choice above, and remembering a form you are part way through filling in. Nothing leaves your device, and no cookie is involved.
- Statistics — off unless you turn it on. If you agree, we load Google Analytics to see which pages people read and where they give up. The events we record are things like "an enquiry was sent from a caravan page" — never your name, email address, phone number or message.
- Marketing — off unless you turn it on. This is what allows the Google map on our contact page to load, because that map comes from Google and Google sets cookies through it. If you leave it off, you get our address and a plain link to Google Maps instead. Opening that link is your visit to Google, not ours, and it sets nothing on this site.
You can change your answer at any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer, or from the button at the top of this page. Nothing on the site stops working if you say no to everything.
One cookie exists that has nothing to do with any of this: __Host-msc-admin, the sign-in cookie for our staff's private admin area. It is only ever set for a member of our own staff who has signed in. A visitor to the public site never receives it.
Our typefaces are served from this site rather than from a font network, so nothing about your visit is shared to display the page.
Google Analytics, if you turn statistics on
This is the only part of the site where another company handles information about your visit, so we would rather set it out in full than summarise it.
What it is. Google Analytics 4, in a property we own, measurement ID G-GYVC4FLRCF. Nobody outside our business and the agency who built this site can read it.
Why we are allowed to do it. Because you said yes, and for no other reason. That is the legal basis, and it is the only one we rely on here. Until you turn statistics on, the tag is not on the page, no script is fetched and no request reaches Google. We use Google's consent mode, which means the tag is told "denied" before it starts and is only told "granted" when you say so.
Who handles it. Google Ireland Limited, acting as our processor under the data processing terms we have accepted. Those terms allow Google to use it to provide the service to us, and not for its own purposes. We have declined all four of Google's optional data-sharing settings, so what your visit produces is not fed into Google's own products, its benchmarking, its technical support or its account teams.
What it records. Which pages you looked at and in what order, how long you stayed, what brought you here — a search, a link, or typing the address in — and the kind of device and browser you used. It works out roughly where you are, to country and region, from your IP address; Google uses the address for that and then discards it, and it is not stored in our property. On top of that we record a short list of our own events: an enquiry sent, a phone number tapped, a gallery opened, a filter applied. Each carries which caravan and which part of the page, and nothing else. Your name, email address, phone number and anything you typed never go near it.
The cookies it sets. Two, both written by Google, both first-party — readable by this site only, not by any other site you visit.
| Cookie | What it is for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells one browser apart from another, so several page views can be counted as one visit rather than several people | Two years, restarted each time you visit |
_ga_GYVC4FLRCF | Keeps track of the visit you are on now in our particular property | Two years, restarted each time you visit |
How long Google keeps it. We have set the retention to 14 months. After that Google deletes the underlying record of individual visits; the totals in our reports remain, and those are counts, not people.
Changing your mind. Use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer and turn statistics off. We tell the tag straight away that consent is withdrawn and stop sending it anything, and the next page you load does not fetch it at all. The two cookies already in your browser are Google's, not ours, so we cannot reach in and delete them — you can, from your browser's settings, and they are named above so you know which ones. You can also ask us to delete what has already been recorded, in the same way as anything else on this page.
Reviews from Google
Where this site shows our Google rating and a few recent reviews, your browser does not contact Google to get them, and nothing about you is sent to Google to display them.
Our own server asks Google for them once a day and stores the answer. Every page is then built from that stored copy. The request is ours, not yours: it happens whether anybody is on the site or not, and it carries nothing about any visitor. Your cookie choice makes no difference to it.
We show the rating Google publishes, unchanged, and we do not pick out the good reviews. If the overall rating drops below 4.0 the whole band comes down rather than a flattering part of it staying up. Reviewers' names appear as Google supplies them, because Google's terms require the attribution. We cannot edit a review and we do not try. We can stop one appearing on this site — and we will if it names somebody else or is unlawful — but that does not remove it from Google. If you have left us a review and want it changed or taken down, do that from your own Google account.
What our website records automatically
Like any website, ours records that a request was made — the page, the time, how long it took, and whether it worked. We use this to keep the site running and to find faults. It is held in Microsoft's monitoring service in the UK and kept for thirty days.
Our security records keep your IP address in full. Every request passes through a firewall in front of the site, and we record each one — the page, the time, your IP address and the browser you used — so that we can find faults and see and stop attacks and automated abuse. These records are held in the same service in the UK, kept for thirty days and then deleted. Only the company that looks after the site's technology can read them, and only to look into a fault or an attack.
We do not store your IP address against anything you send us. Our forms also use it, in the server's working memory only, to count how many forms have come from the same source in the last day, so that nobody can flood us with automated submissions. That count is never written down, and it is forgotten after a day.
Our records of what you send us — enquiries, valuations, listings — carry no IP address and no browser information at all. Our internal logs are filtered to strip names, email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes and message text before anything is written.
Stopping automated abuse
Our forms carry a hidden field that a person never sees and only automated software fills in, and we check how long the form was open before it was sent — anything submitted in under three seconds is treated as automated. We also limit how many submissions can come from one place in a five-minute window, and each form accepts five submissions a day from one place.
We also check what each form says for the signs of spam, such as a web address where a name should be, or the wording of a sales pitch. This check never shows anyone an error. An enquiry, valuation request or listing that looks like spam may be held for our team to check instead of arriving as a new enquiry, and if it is held, no acknowledgement is sent for it. Our team is told about every held form and checks it by hand: if it is genuine, they release it and deal with it as usual; if it is not, they delete it. A held form that is not released is deleted automatically thirty days after it arrived. A mailing-list sign-up that looks like spam may not be added to the list, and nothing about it is kept, so our team is not told about it and there is nothing to release: if you signed up and hear nothing from us, sign up again or ask us to add you. To spot the same message being sent many times, the server keeps a scrambled fingerprint of each message for a day, in its working memory only. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into the message.
There is no CAPTCHA on this site.
Who can see your information
Our own staff, through a private admin area that is not open to search engines. They sign in with a Microsoft work account, and every action they take on your record is logged with their name and the time.
Our suppliers see it only in the sense that it sits on their systems. Microsoft, for hosting, email and staff sign-in. Google Ireland Limited, for the analytics described above — but only if you turned statistics on, and only what that section lists. Google again for the map on our contact page, and only if you turned marketing on. Nobody else. We do not sell your details, and no advertising network is given them.
If a private seller's listing is accepted and goes on the site, the caravan appears — the seller's name, email address, phone number and the location they gave us never do. Where a listing names the holiday park a caravan is standing on, that is the park's own public details, written by our staff. It is not taken from the seller's form and it is not their address.
Links to other sites
Some pages link out to sites we do not run. We have no control over what those sites do with your information, and we would encourage you to read their own privacy notices.
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe your child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.
When we have to disclose
We will disclose personal information where the law requires it, such as under a court order.
Your rights, and how to use them
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop using it. You can also object to what we are doing with it.
The way to do any of these is to email sales@mystaticcaravan.co.uk with the words "data request" in the subject line, or to ring 0333 577 0020 and say that is what you are calling about. Tell us your name and the email address or phone number you used, so we can find the right records. You do not have to give a reason and there is no charge.
We will reply within one month. If your request is complicated and we need longer, we will tell you within that month and explain why.
If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top will change with it. If a change is significant we will say so on the page rather than let you find it.
