Frequently asked questions
We answer the questions we hear most about buying, paying for, delivering and siting a static caravan. If yours is not here, ring us on 0333 577 0020 and we will answer it.
Buying and paying
- Can I reserve a caravan?
- Yes. A deposit takes the caravan off sale while you arrange everything else. We will tell you how long we can hold it when you ring.
- How do I pay?
- You pay the deposit and the balance by bank transfer, and the balance is due before delivery. That is the only way we take money: no card payments, no finance, and we will not ask for cash. The full walkthrough is on How buying works.
- Do you take part exchange?
- Sometimes, depending on what you have. Send us photographs and we will give you an honest answer either way.
- Are your prices negotiable?
- Prices are set fairly to start with. If a caravan has been with us a while, ask — the worst we can say is no.
Delivery and siting
- How much does delivery cost?
- Delivery is free up to 100 miles from Babcary, measured along real roads, on our own caravans marked free delivery. Delivery is kerb to kerb: we bring the caravan to the roadside at your address. Siting, which means unloading the caravan on to its base, positioning it and levelling it, is not included, and we quote for it on request. Connecting the services is never included, because a qualified specialist must make each connection for safety. Further afield, we deliver anywhere in the UK and quote before you commit. The detail is on Delivery and siting.
- What does my base need to be?
- It needs to be level and solid, on concrete pads or sleepers depending on the ground. We will tell you what your plot needs before you buy.
- Can you get a caravan into a tight spot?
- Usually. Send photographs of the gateway, the corners and anything overhead, and we will give you an honest answer before you commit.
- Do you connect the water and electricity?
- No. Connecting the water, drainage, electricity and gas is not included, because a qualified specialist must make each connection for safety. You arrange the connections with local tradespeople, and we will tell you what each one needs and recommend people we trust.
The caravans themselves
- What is the difference between new and preloved?
- New has never been owned or sited. Some of our new caravans are here at our Somerset site, and others are ordered direct from the supplier for you. Preloved has been owned before, then inspected and prepared by us here in Somerset. New, preloved and project caravans are explained on How buying works.
- How long does a static caravan last?
- It can last twenty years or more on a sound base with a little maintenance. Build quality and upkeep matter more than age.
- Can they be lived in all year round?
- Modern caravans with double glazing and central heating cope well. Tell us how you plan to use it and we will point you to the right specification.
- Can I view before I buy?
- Yes — viewings are by appointment here in Somerset. Ring us and we will book you in. What to check at a viewing is on How buying works.
Selling your caravan
- How do I get a valuation?
- Send us photographs and the caravan’s details. We will value it honestly and hold the offer while you decide.
- Do you collect?
- Yes, anywhere in the UK. We arrange the transport and handle the paperwork.
- How quickly do I get paid?
- We pay you by bank transfer once we have checked the caravan at collection. You do not have to wait for us to sell it on.
